Three Philadelphia Phillies chose to test the free agency market today after they were out righted to the minor leagues not too long ago.

Casper Wells, 28 years old had a bit of a rough 2013 season as he only hit .126/.189/.147 across the line through 102 plate appearances with three different teams. Even though he struggled this season he could still draw some interest from at least a couple teams across the league.

If not he could always head to Japan and kick start his career again. It’s worked for a couple former Major League players recently, so why not, right?

Second up is 29 year old outfielder Roger Bernadina. Bernadina hit .181/.250/.295 with two home runs and five RBI’s in 75 at bats and 27 games with the Phillies after being moved by the Washington Nationals. He doesn’t have much power but he does have a lot of speed.

Finally the last one to elect free agency is 25 year old J.C. Ramirez who also struggled during the 2013 season. He posted a 7.50 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and 16/15 K/BB ratio over 24 innings of work with the Phillies.

He also struggled at the Triple-A level, posting a 4.71 ERA, 1.55 along with a 36/23 K/BB ratio through 42 innings of work.  Ramirez could catch a teams eye, land himself a minor league contract which could lead to a Spring Training invite.
