The Miami Dolphins paid wide receiver Mike Wallace a large amount of money to join the team in free agency, so there has been plenty of attention to how he is performing on the field. Throughout the early part of the season Wallace was underwhelming, but he has been stepping up in recent weeks and he’s ready to take his game to the next gear.

With the Dolphins in the AFC Wild Card mix, Wallace says that it is time for him to pick up his game and be the great player that he believes he is.

“This is the time when you’ve got to be the best you can be,” Wallace said, via theMiami Herald. “It’s December. I’ve had enough time to get adjusted. It’s the time for me to be the player I know I am, no matter [what]. Just block out everything and play football. I’m a great player, I know that. It’s all that really matters. … Let’s call a spade a spade.”

Miami will need to string together some big wins and Wallace performing at a high level will certainly help that.

The Dolphins have a big divisional match up against the New England Patriots remaining on the schedule and a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are also in the playoff mix, so they have a great opportunity to find themselves in the postseason after Week 17 comes to an end.
