Ladies and Gentlemen, Robinson Cano has finally agree’d to a new contract but it’s not with the New York Yankees.

He’s officially a Seattle Mariner.

Talks between the Yankees and Cano looked like they weren’t getting very far after finding out that the team was hoping he would take less than his asking price.

They offered Cano a seven year contract worth around $165 million.

This allowed the Seattle Mariners to slip in and attempt to sweet talk Cano away from the Yankees. And how do they do that? Give the man exactly what he wants.

I figured Cano would get his deal either way after he signed with Jay-Z’s sports agency. His initial number was around $300 million but Cano denied that he was looking for that much.

Seattle hasn’t reached the playoffs since the 2001 season and are desperate to reach that level. I say they’re moving in the right direction after this huge signing of Robinson Cano. They may not make it to the post-season next year, but this move should attract some more talent.

The newly signed Mariner will rightfully take the job away from Nick Franklin who made his Major League debut this year for Seattle.

New York has to be kicking themselves right now after letting Cano slip through the cracks. He’s done a lot of great things for that franchise and was surely thought to be a Yankee for his entire career.

Robinson led the New York Yankees in batting average with .314, home runs with 27 and RBI’s with 107 in his final year with the team.

Good thing the Yankees signed Kelly Johnson.
