So, how does this whole thing work? The first stage of the Re-Entry Process, when clubs can claim players by exercising their current options or extending them a bona fide offer as stipulated by the CBA, will take place via conference call on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 3 p.m. ET.

If players go unselected in the first stage, the second stage could see them get picked. That takes place on Wednesday, Dec. 18 also at 3 p.m. ET via conference call. As per league rules, teams have seven days to make a bona fide offer to players selected in Stage 2 and if the players can’t come to terms, the club has the right of first refusal.

If players are not picked up after Stage 2, they are available to any MLS club on a first-come, first-served basis.

And who is eligible to be in the Re-Entry Process? Those who meet these requirements for Stage 1:

  • Players who are at least 23 years old and have a minimum of three years experience in MLS whose options were not exercised by their clubs (available at option salary for 2014).
  • Players who are at least 25 years old with a minimum of four years of MLS experience who are out of contract and whose club does not wish to re-sign them at their previous salary (available for at least their 2013 salary).
  • Players who are at least 30 years old with a minimum of eight years of MLS experience who are out of contract and whose club does not wish to re-sign them (available for at least 105% of their 2013 salary).

Here are the players.
