According to Corey Brock of MLB.com, Trevor Hoffman is now the upper level pitching coordinator and special assistant to the GM for the San Diego Padres. Brock’s article states Hoffman will work with pitchers throughout the organization, especially at AA San Antonio and AAA El Paso.

The Padres will begin the 2014 season with high expectations for their starters and bullpen.  The signings of starting pitcher Josh Johnson and set-up man Joaquin Benoit may help create substantial depth in the pitching department.  If the offense holds up, the Padres have a decent chance of competing for a playoff spot.

The young starters Hoffman will help develop include Joe Wieland, Keyvius Sampson, and Robbie Erlin.  The young relief pitchers include Chris Rearick, Leonel Campos, Roman Madrid.  These young arms represent a ton of talent in the Padres’ farm system.
