Report: Lakers, Hawks interested in Hedo Turkoglu
By Ryan Donoho
The Orlando Magic are reportedly going to waive forward Hedo Turkoglu, and he will be free to sign wherever he pleases. The aging Turkoglu hasn’t found success since the 2009 Finals, and he will be looking to prove that he can still be productive.
According to Ismail Senol of NTV SPOR in Istanbul, there are two NBA teams who have shown interest:
Both of these teams could use Turkoglu, but Atlanta makes some sense here. They have 15 contracts on the books, so they would have to waive either Cartier Martin, Mike Scott, or Shelvin Mack if they want to add him. All three of those guys (who have non-guaranteed contracts) have been nice rotation players for the Hawks this season, so a deal there seems unlikely.
As for the Lakers, they need help in just about every position on their team. Kendall Marshall is their only starting point guard, and they are piled up with injuries. They do have Nick Young and Wesley Johnson to play small forward, so if he signed there, don’t expect him to get a lot of minutes.
It seems as if Turkoglu will end up on an NBA roster, but where that is has yet to be seen.
