The NBA Draft isn’t until the summer but already teams are starting to hammer out a list of potential names to keep an eye on. Chad Ford, who hosted a weekly chat session this week on ESPN, mentioned Marcus Smart and a few teams that are getting in on him early.

While it’s far too early to start projecting draft positioning and who will go where, Ford mentions that Smart is drawing attention from the Sacramento Kings and Orlando Magic as teams that are high on him at the moment.

Ford didn’t offer much commentary on the Magic or Kings interest in Smart, but it’s obvious that he’s going to be a top lottery pick in this summers draft. Smart, who almost came out last year, is only set to rise with his final season at Oklahoma State and could boost his worth even more so come March Madness.

We obviously don’t know how the draft will stack up this year but Smart does fit the Magic and the Kings should he be available for them when they draft. The Kings need someone like Smart to lead the team and it’s been established that a star guard is a necessity in the NBA if you can’t compile a roster of huge talent.

Smart’s value is only going up, so expect talk of him to continue and the list of teams interested in him to grow.
