The San Diego Chargers knew that there was a chance offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt could leave the team after one season if a better job presented itself and that possibility became a reality on Monday evening.

Whisenhunt was connected to the Detroit Lions and Tennessee Titans head coaching vacancies and he ultimately decided to choose one of the teams.

According to multiple reports, Whisenhunt has agreed to become the next head coach of the Tennessee Titans.

From Adam Schefter of ESPN:

Whisenhunt was keeping teams waiting as he finished off his playoff run with the Chargers, but once they were eliminated from the postseason by the Denver Broncos it seemed like only a matter of time until he would accept one of the head coaching jobs that were on the table.

For the Titans, they get a coach who can hopefully rebuild their offense and a man who is familiar with the Nashville area from his time as an assistant coach with the Vanderbilt Commodores.

For the Detroit Lions, it means they must look elsewhere to find their next head coach.
