The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are to hold a second round of interviews for their General Manager position. According to ProFootball Talk the Buccaneers have a front runner for the job: Atlanta Falcons director of player personnel Lionel Vital.

PFT reports a source saying that Vital will not be the only candidate to return for a second interview, with Giants vice president of player evaluation Marc Ross and Tennessee Titans vice president of player personnel Lake Dawson also mentioned as being in consideration.

The Buccaneers fired former GM Mark Dominik two weeks ago, and are viewed as one of the more attractive organisations hiring this offseason given the talent on their roster and an experienced coach in Lovie Smith.

One of the legacies of Dominik’s tenure as GM is that the Buccaneers have talent on both sides of the ball, as well as a comparatively healthy salary cap position, helped by front loading salaries in player contracts and avoiding singing bonuses – helping the team to steer clear of filling the cap with dead money if players did not work out.
