Los Angeles Lakers’ Nick Young suspended one game
On Thursday, the NBA announced that Los Angeles Lakers’ swingman Nick Young has been suspended one game for “throwing a punch.”
Young and Phoenix Suns’ rookie center Alex Len were ejected from Wednesday night’s 121-114 Suns win.
During the second quarter, Young got the ball and headed to the basket for what looked like a layup. As he drove to the basket, Len came in to defend Young, but instead gave him a very hard foul, sending Young crashing to the ground. Young got up and immediately went after Len, shoving him. Suns’ forward Marcus Morris quickly came to the defense of his young center, shoving Young back. That caused the entire Nets’ five that was currently on the floor to head over towards Young. As things escalated, Young threw a punch at Suns’ point guard Goran Dragic.
Young was ejected for the punch he threw while Len was issued a flagrant 2, which warrants an immediate ejection.
Young, who is averaging 16.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game, will miss Friday’s game in Boston against the Celtics.
