One thing this Chicago Cubs organization and it’s fans are excited about is the teams future. They have two handfuls of prospects who are almost Major League ready and are expected to do pretty well when they reach this level.

Some prospects are ahead of others, which happens all the time. Third base prospect Kris Bryant was Chicago’s first pick in last years draft and was thought to be Major League ready within the first couple of years. Well after tearing up the minor’s and the Arizona Fall League, he may be getting his chance to prove to the front office that he’s prepared to help the club.

Third base is a position that the Cubs really need help with. The hot corner hasn’t really been the same ever since Aramis Ramirez left for the Milwaukee Brewers. Luis Valbuena, Cody Ransom and Donnie Murphy have been a somewhat decent rotation, but I’m sure the team would like to have someone who can become the everyday third baseman.

Now according to Mark Gonzalez on Twitter, Cubs prospects Kris Bryant and outfielder Albert Almora will likely receive invitations to Spring Training. These two have a great shot at cracking the opening day roster.

As a Chicago Cubs fan myself, I’m pretty excited to visit the new ballpark in Mesa, Arizona and watch my team play some Cactus League ball.

Almora will more than likely serve as the teams center fielder when he makes the 25 man roster.
