PGA Tour: Live from the Farmers Insurance Open

Earlier today, I watched a few players enjoy a leisurely practice round on Torrey Pines North in preparation for the Farmers Insurance Open. The tournament begins on Thursday, January 23rd.

Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas were chatting it up during their p-round. Spieth earned Rookie of the Year honors in 2013, and is off to a great start in 2014 with a second place finish at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions. Thomas earned his Web.com Tour card in December with a T32 finish at Q-school. The two twenty-year-olds looked relaxed, so keep an eye on them this week.

Kevin Foley and Will Wilcox played a p-round together. Both players are rookies on the PGA Tour after graduating from the Web.com Tour in 2013. A couple weeks ago, Wilcox finished T8 at the Sony Open in Hawaii, earning $119,000. Foley finished T72 at the Sony, and is an alternate this week.

I also saw Tim Herron stripe a drive down the eighth fairway. Herron is a four-time winner on the PGA Tour, and finished T51 at the Sony Open.
