The New York Giants season went far from expected, but no one anticipates the G-Men struggling to bounce back. They might have to let wide receiver Hakeem Nicks walk in free agency, but one free agent wants to re-sign and is more affordable, defensive tackle Mike Patterson.

“I waited a long time to get in this locker room,” Patterson said, via Newark Star-Ledger. “Hopefully I’m back next season.”

Patterson was originally with the Eagles before being cut as the defense transitioned to a 3-4 scheme that he didn’t fit. Patterson played well as a rotational player and was great against the run. He had 23 tackles and was a steal with a salary in 2013 of just $620,000. You might expect that number to go up but he should still be rather affordable for the Giants. The only problem is other interested teams potentially driving up the price tag.

If he wants to re-sign with the Giants though, that might not affect his price that much.
