The baseball free agent market still has a lot of serviceable names available, but the hot stove has seemingly cooled off for the time being. Starters like Ervin Santana and Ubaldo Jimenez remain free agents, but there are other serviceable arms still looking for work.

One of those pitchers is Scott Baker, who continues to draw interest from teams in the American League. According to Chris Cotillo, both the Seattle Mariners and Cleveland Indians remain the favorites to land Baker this offseason.

Baker wasn’t terrible in his stint with the Minnesota Twins, where he was once thought of as being the future leader of the rotation. But since then he’s fallen off a bit and now seems to have fit into the role of a starter who won’t anchor a rotation but can still help one.

It’s also possible that the Indians or Mariners could send Baker to the bullpen, but either way it appears one of the two teams will land him on their 2014 roster.
