The NBA trade deadline is approaching fast, which means we’re starting to hear more and more big names mentioned in potential deals. Hearing names mentioned in rumors and actually seeing them traded are two very different things, and case in point of that has been the rumors about Rajon Rondo being traded out of Boston.

Rondo’s name has been mentioned more and more in trade rumors but it seems that the more his name is mentioned, the more the rumors get shot down. First, there was Celtics GM Danny Ainge shooting down trade rumors and now other NBA executives are under the impression that the Celtics are not interested in trading their point guard at this moment.

Per Rich Bucher:

"Several general managers said they would be surprised if Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo is traded before the February trade deadline because it will be hard for Boston to receive adequate compensation until all doubts about his return from his ACL surgery are quelled."

That’s not something that will completely and totally make Celtics fans rest easy about the Rondo rumors, but it’s still looking like a trade before the deadline is highly unlikely.
