Every offseason, the team that took home the Lombardi Trophy gets hit hard in free agency as teams look to add players with Super Bowl experience to their roster. This year, the Seattle Seahawks will be the team looking to avoid being gutted.

The Seahawks will be looking to extend a number of players, but they will need to find a way to fit them all under the cap.

Unfortunately for wide receiver Sidney Rice, that means he is likely on the outs.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network passed along the news on Tuesday night.

By releasing Rice, the Seahawks would save over $7 million in cap space and finally get rid of the horrible contract that he signed a few years ago.

Rice has been unable to stay healthy since signing his five-year deal, and the Seahawks have proven that they are able to win without him.
