The Pittsburgh Steelers and defensive star Brett Keisel have some work to do over the offseason if they want to stay united for the 2014 season, as the Steelers are unsure of whether or not they’ll be bringing him back.

Regardless of the contract situation, Thursday night will be all about charity as Keisel will be appearing at the Steelers ‘Shear Da Beard’ event in which his magnificent and gnarly beard will be shaved off for the sake of raising some money. The event has become somewhat of a tradition for the Steelers and their fans, and not even a possible contract dispute will be keeping Keisel from attending.

Per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:

"“Shear Da Beard” benefits the oncology program at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Mr. Keisel was inspired to conduct the charity trimming four years ago, after the son of teammate Aaron Smith was diagnosed with cancer (which is now, thankfully, in remission)."

If Keisel is cut this offseason, we know he won’t be told tonight as the only cutting that will be done will be to his beard. Losing Keisel would be heartbreaking for fans, but if this is the last memory they have of him, that wouldn’t be the worst memory to have.
