Surprise, surprise… Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman took issue with the words of another wide receiver. This time it was the words of Denver Broncos’ Wes Welker during Super Bowl media day.

So what exactly did Welker say? He was responding to NFL Network’s Deion Sanders asking if he’d like to go head-to-head with Sherman.

“Yeah, any time, man,” Welker responded. “I want anybody one-on-one in the slot. Any time.”

Doesn’t really sound like trash talk and how else is Welker supposed to respond? “No, I’m afraid of Sherman, I have nightmares at night thinking about it?”

Still, Sherman took issue with it and used it as bulletin board material.

Don’t you ever say you want one-on-one with us,” NFL Films microphones picked up Sherman telling Welker, via the Denver Post. “Don’t you ever say that!”

It looks like the best course of action for receivers looking to avoid giving Sherman bulletin board material would be to say nothing at all or give him all the praise you can think of.
