The Detroit Pistons were the first NBA team to fire their head coach this season when they axed Maurice Cheeks on Sunday morning. The search for an interim didn’t last long as the team promoted from within, but the help elsewhere in the organization has yet to be found.

Many believe that Joe Dumars’ days are numbered in Detroit, but there may still be hope yet for the roster he put together. With the NBA trade deadline approaching rapidly, the team may make some moves to get veteran voices and leaders in the locker room. Jabari Davis from Basketball Insiders speculates that Luol Deng and Evan Turner could be options for the Pistons at the deadline.

"Deng and Turner are able to produce the type of steady offense without a great deal of plays drawn and run specifically for them that would be great for Detroit. They also provide the team-oriented things that encourage and influence winning basketball yet aren’t always as detectable to the casual observer or in a quick glance at the box score."

Detroit may not have the draft picks to secure a trade for Turner, but they may be able to land Deng if the Cavs deem him expendable seeing as he likely won’t re-sign after the season.
