Discussing The Richie Incognito And Jonathan Martin Texts

By now, most of, if not all of us, are all aware of the situation involving Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin. The entire thing really is a shame, but last week fans were able to get a deeper grasp on what really happened and perhaps form a new stance on the matter.

Text messages between both Incognito and Martin were released and they are quite shocking. The texts are extremely vulgar and involve a lot of talk about sex and drugs. Personally, I believe this opens up an entire new chapter in the saga and I still think there is more to find out.

After reading through the text messages exchanged between the two offensive lineman I immediately asked myself, did Incognito actually bully Jonathan Martin? As I said before, the texts are disgusting. Both Incognito and Martin talk about doing drugs, having sex with hookers, and constant partying. The texts are surprising since these two are supposed to be professional athletes. While I expected talk and behavior like this from Incognito, I was shocked to see what Martin said.

The entire time Jonathan Martin has looked like the good guy, but is he really? I mean sure Incognito said some crude things but so did Martin. Martin cursed just as much as Incognito did in the texts and he also talked about drinking as well as doing drugs. As the texts go on, Martin talks about women with much disrespect just like Incognito. Basically what I’m getting at is that if you read through the entire conversation, Martin talks exactly as his ex-teammate does and that is something that you heard nothing about before.

As the conversation goes on you can see some harsh words from Incognito directed at Martin, but Martin seems to bring it right back. However as time passes you can tell Martin is growing tired with the way he is being treated. He starts to blow off Incognito to either hang in or go out with other people. This is where things take a turn for the worst as Martin begins to start taking offense to the comments that are made about him.

Later on in the texts we see Incognito checking in on Martin. He asks him if he’s feeling better after checking into the mental hospital and asks when he will be back with the team. Martin makes it seem like it’s not a big deal and shows no signs of hard feelings towards him. This is the part that I find weird. Why doesn’t he just call out Incognito for his harsh comments and let him know that he is the reason he is no longer with the team?

After all of this the reports start coming out and again we see Martin make it seem like no big deal. He simply says that he has nothing to do with the situation and then stops responding to Incognito. Next Incognito pleads with Martin to help him because he is getting killed in the media but there is no response. Still after going through the texts multiple times I still feel like there has to be more to this story.

Both offensive-lineman cursed at each other and talked about hookers, and drugs but Martin is the good guy, right? I’m not saying that Incognito is a good guy, he clearly has some issues, but Martin is not innocent in my eyes. He is also disrespectful and an embarrassment to the NFL. The guy clearly got bullied in some ways but no one is talking about how he wasn’t afraid to dish it right back. I truly believe with all of my heart that there is something much deeper to this story but who knows if we are ever going to find out.
