The Minnesota Vikings have one of the best running backs in the NFL with Adrian Peterson, but the guy who was running behind him wasn’t that bad either. Toby Gerhart was a beast for the Vikings when he needed to be and that may very well have gotten him in line for a big starters contract in the offseason.

According to the Star Tribune in Minneapolis, the Vikings are unlikely to bring Gerhart back in 2014 and he’s going to hit the market. The Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns and New York Giants are all teams that could have the former Stanford back on their radar.

"While Asiata has a good shot to return next season, it’s hard to see Gehart back in Minnesota. He has the talent to be a lead running back or at the very least in a two-back system, which won’t happen with Peterson. There are a few teams that could use a running back, including the Dolphins, Browns and Giants."

The Vikings would love to have Gerhart back, but the Dolphins need a decent running game, the Browns may pay to re-tool their offense and the Giants have no one reliable in their backfield. All teams can offer Gerhart more than the Vikings cans in more way than one.
