In a move that would shock absolutely no one, except for Vikings fans who want to bring him back, the Minnesota Vikings are not expected to re-sign running back Toby Gerhart and will likely lose him to another team in free agency.

The Star Tribune is reporting that the team likely won’t bring Gerhart back as he’s likely to command a bigger contract and a larger role than the team can offer him.

"While Asiata has a good shot to return next season, it’s hard to see Gehart back in Minnesota. He has the talent to be a lead running back or at the very least in a two-back system, which won’t happen with Peterson."

The Vikings knew this was likely to happen as people tend to forget how good Gerhart was coming out of Stanford. He also displayed skill running behind Adrian Peterson and made plays when he could The Vikings would love to have him back, but it appears Matt Asiata will be competing for what will soon be Gerhart’s old job.
