After being fired as General Manager of the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday, Mike Lombardi will not be out of work for long. Chris Fedor of 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland reported that the New England Patriots and Lombardi were nearing an agreement, and now multiple reports confirm that it is a done deal.

There is no word on what role Lombardi will take within the Patriots organization.

In New England, he will reunite with head coach Bill Belichick. The two men previously worked together when they were with the Cleveland Browns from 1991-1995.

Lombardi is a great football mind, so it should prove to be an excellent hire for the Patriots.

Whether or not his presence and knowledge will help New England reload with talent and get back to the top of the NFL world remains to be seen, but it is certainly a step in the right direction.
