NBA Trade Rumors: New York Knicks still trying to trade for Darren Collison
By Josh Hill
Talks between the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers broke down overnight, as the two sides couldn’t agree on a Darren Collison trade that suited everyone. Things were further complicated when Knicks centerpiece Iman Shumpert sprained his MCL just hours after talks fell through, meaning that he’s unlikely to be of much value in a trade.
Still, the Knicks are apparently hellbent on trading for Collison and are still looking to work out a trade for him. According to ESPNNewYork.com reporter Ian Begly, the Knicks will likely be working on trying to acquire Collison all the way up until the deadline passes.
"The New York Knicks are still trying to complete a trade for Los Angeles Clippers point guardDarren Collison before Thursday’s trade deadline, according to sources close to the talks. But sources told ESPN.com on Wednesday night that the talks had been tabled until Thursday, which is deadline day in the NBA. The league’s annual trade buzzer sounds at 3 p.m."
The Knicks getting Collison was complicated by Shumpert’s unfortunate injury, but it apparently hasn’t killed trade spirits in New York. It’s likely that the Knicks are mentioned a lot today, but it’s looking increasingly unlikely that they make a splashy trade before the deadline passes.
