The San Francisco 49ers are trying to keep as many impact players on roster as they can without breaking the bank doing so, and they took a giant leap towards doing that on Sunday. According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, the Niners are nearing a deal to re-sign Anquan Boldin and are expected to reach an agreement soon.

This is great news for Niners fans, and it’s sort of expected news as well. There was little chance that the Niners were going to let let Boldin walk unless he was demanding outrageous amounts of money. It doesn’t appear that’s what he was doing and the sides appear close on a new deal to keep one of Colin Kaepernick’s favorite targets in San Francisco in 2014.
