After a week of speculation and anticipation, we finally appear to have a final word on the Danny Granger situation in Philadelphia. While it seemed like Granger was starting to o pen up to the idea of staying with the 76ers the rest of the season to retain his Bird Rights, David Aldridge from NBA.com and TNT reports that a buyout is being finalized and Granger is expected to hit waivers by the end of the day.

Even though there were hints that Granger may avoid a buyout, whispers around the league were that the Spurs and Clippers are the frontrunners to land Granger if and when he’s bought out. Now that it’s leaning more towards ‘when’ he’s going to be bought out, interest will only continue to mount for Granger.

Miami remains a wild card option, although it appears that they’re more interested in Caron Butler than Granger. However, we can’t count anything out as Granger has just become the best available free agent on the market — or at least he will once his buyout it finalized.
