It hasn’t been a great year for the Detroit Pistons and that all starts with frustrations fans have with the front office. General manager Joe Dumars is skating on thin ice once again, but it appears he was able to talk his way out of being fired earlier in the year.
But rumors began to swirl last night about a possible ousting of Dumars that would see him replaced with former Pistons legend Isaiah Tomas. According to the Detroit News, this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Per Vincent Goodwill of The Detroit News:
"Sources told The Detroit News the only conversations Gores and Thomas have had revolved around the Bad Boys reunion, when Gores stepped in financially, listing himself and the Detroit Pistons organization as presenting sponsors for the events."
It’s very clear that Dumars’ days are numbered in Detroit, but they’re not yet over just this instant. Thomas coming back to the Pistons would be an interesting move, but he wasn’t all that successful in New York and fans want to bring in someone that will guarantee a change in culture and not just pander to their nostalgia.
