The New York Jets are looking to bring back tight end Jeff Cumberland and are in “serious negotiations” with the player, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. Mehta goes on to say that it is unclear whether a deal gets done before the tampering period begins or free agency starts on Tuesday.

Of course the Jets have been in talks with with Cumberland since February, so the fact that they’re classified as “serious” could mean they’re nearing a deal.
From the New York Daily News:
"The Jets are in discussions to bring back unrestricted free agent tight end Jeff Cumberland, whose snaps were curtailed early last season by Kellen Winslow’s presence. The organization is bullish on Cumberland’s ability to take the next step in his fifth season, according to team sources."
