According to ESPN analyst Chris Mortensen, there are a “handful of [NFL] evaluators” who have a “greater confidence” in Buffalo outside linebacker Khalil Mack than they do South Carolina Gamecocks defensive end Jadeveon Clowney.

It is interesting considering Clowney’s dominance in football, playing in what many consider to be college football’s best conference. Of course after a rough season marred by spats with head coach Steve Spurrier, questions about Clowney’s work ethic have been raised.

Mortensen says the evaluators love Mack’s “consistency and versatility.” Clowney will almost undoubtedly still be taken higher on name recognition alone, he is a sexy pick. That doesn’t mean Mack can’t come in and have a solid and dominating NFL career like some other pass rushers from smaller schools.
