It seems that the Detroit Lions are just ap layer or two away from being true Super Bowl contenders in 2014 and they are looking at this free agent class to see if there are any stud players that can help them out. They added Reggie bush last offseason and that turned out very well but they still need help and this time it will be defensive.

According to Lions beat writer Dave Birkett as well as Titans beat writer Jim Wyatt, the Lions have reached out to free agent cornerback Alterraun Verner.

Verner is an interesting choice but the Lions aren’t likely to land him. In addition to having a bigger need at safety, the Lions are a bit strapped for cash and breaking the bank on Verner isn’t smart.

There are a slew of teams interested in Verner as well, which means the price is likely to be drive out of the Lions range rather quickly.
