A bidding war to acquire the talents of top safety T.J. Ward was expected and it appears that we are on our way to seeing that commence this afternoon. While there are other safeties in free agency, Ward is drawing a ton of interest and it appears two teams are at the top of the list.

According to CBSSports’ Jason La Canfora, the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles are both showing a strong interest in signing Ward which means a bidding war inevitably lies ahead.

There will likely be other teams to enter the mix as well which could complicate things for both Detroit and Philly. Both teams aren’t looking to break the bank on one player and their interest in Ward could go away after this initial show of interest.

Still, Ward is one of the best free agents on the market and plays a position of need for both teams. If he can be had at the right price, either team will jump all over him if they can.
