Before the start of free agency, speculation began to grow that former Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick and the New York Jets had mutual interest in each other.

That speculation was confirmed by several reports.

Vick even told teammates that he would likely join the Jets.

The Jets wanted to get a deal done quickly, like on Tuesday, the first day of free agency, so they could focus on others areas of their team.

However, the two sides have come to a standstill due to Vick’s insistence that he be given a starting job.

Obviously, Vick wants to start, but that may not be a realistic option. The Jets started rookie Geno Smith last year and would like to see how he develops. Former Jets’ starter Mark Sanchez also remains on the roster.
