Free agent defensive end Henry Melton is set to meet with the Dallas Cowboys this weekend, but that doesn’t mean the teams who have previously met with him are not interested. While the Seattle Seahawks reportedly were close to signing Melton this weekend, the Minnesota Vikings are also keeping an eye on Melton and are reportedly continuing an open dialog with the defensive end as he meets with the Cowboys.

Melton is the best defensive end talent not he market next to Jared Allen, and the Vikings have been ruled out for now on Allen. Adding Melton would continue the Vikings offseason push to get their defense up to the level Mike Zimmer needs it to be at but he’s not a lock to sign.

Minnesota has competition for Melton and they may have to end up looking at a reunion with Jared Allen or drafting an edge rusher in May to fill their need on the end of the defensive line.
