Opening Day Lineups: Dodgers vs. Diamondbacks
By Matt Fisher
The official start to the 2014 Major League Baseball season will begin in the wee hours of the morning in the United States.
The Los Angeles Dodgers will face off against the Arizona Diamondbacks at the Sydney Cricket Grounds in Sydney, Australia at 4:00 AM EST. Both teams have revealed their Opening Day lineups and both have some surprises in them.
The Dodgers will start Yasiel Puig in the lead off position. Puig’s explosive bat and sparkplug personality will provide a jump for the Dodgers as they begin to defend their NL West Championship, especially late in the game when an extra at-bat could be critical.
The Diamondbacks have rookie Chris Owings starting at shortstop instead of last year’s standout Didi Gregorius. Gregorius has struggled offensively this spring and Owings is making a case to be the next big thing out of Arizona. Gregorius will get the start at shortstop in the evening game.
Below are the released lineups for each team.
