The Indianapolis Colts have had to deal with a lot of internal turmoil over the last few seasons, and it seems every time they pull together like a tight-knit family. Head coach Chuck Pagano has assured that the latest episode involving owner Jim Irsay will be no different.

“We’ve got his back, no matter what,” Pagano said per USA Today Sports.

Irsay was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and possession of controlled substances. He has since checked into a rehab facility.

It’s not surprising at all that Pagano would stand up for his owner, given the way that Irsay stood behind and supported him while he underwent treatment for a form of leukemia during the 2012 season. The phrase (and hashtag) “ChuckStrong” became the rallying cry of the Colts.

Pagano made the following statement regarding Irsay:

"“I’ll never be able to repay Mr. Irsay for what he did for me and my family in my absence during the 2012 season. When you go through circumstances, a lot of things get revealed to you, and I knew the first time I met Jim what type of man he was. He doesn’t just talk about faith, family and football, he lives it, and that was revealed to me during my battle with cancer. Me and my family, now it is our opportunity, along with the rest of the organization, to come together, because we are a family, and support Jim and do anything we can to help him.”"

Irsay has not yet been formally charged and is scheduled for a court hearing Wednesday. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has stated that the league will review Irsay’s case to determine what disciplinary action will be appropriate.
