The New England Patriots proposed extending the goal posts, and the NFL has approved the measure.

Previously, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick called the goal posts outdated.

From NESN:

"There was a lot of talk about the four rule proposals the Patriots made, which will be discussed this week. Belichick said the height of the goal posts is outdated, since even college kickers who won’t make the NFL can kick the ball over them."

The Patriots were victim to a questionable last second field goal call against the Baltimore Ravens in 2012. The players argued it but the call stood, and the ball appeared to go directly over the post.
