Saints’ Sean Payton called the NFL’s franchise tag system ‘antiquated’
By Mike Dyce

The New Orleans Saints slapped tight end Jimmy Graham with the franchise tag, keeping him around. They’re trying to work out a long term deal according to owner Tom Benson.
“There’s not much pressure to get this thing done right quick now that it got on the backburner a little bit,” Benson said, via The Times-Picayune. “We’ve got so much stuff going, but it will get worked out pretty quick. I’m going to kick him a little bit (Benson chuckled). I like him. He’s a nice guy. And he loves my wife (Gayle). I’m going to put her on him.”
Graham’s head coach Sean Payton is siding with the player calling the system “antiquated.”

Sean Payton says conversations before Jimmy Graham stepped away were important. Sounds like he prepared for it.
