The Chicago Bulls have made another roster move this season, but this time it wasn’t to trade anyone it was cutting someone to add another. According to multiple reports, the Bulls are expected to release rookie Erik Murphy so that they can clear the way to sign former Bulls Bench Mob member Ronnie Brewer.

Brewer was part of the Bull magical run to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2011 before getting cut for salary cap reasons — or ‘basketball reasons’.

It’s sort of like getting the band back together as signing Brewer gives the Bulls a killer defensive option off the bench as Brewer fit well in Tom Thibodeau’s system. There’s nothing to say that will rekindle with his return but there will be a lot of happy Bulls fans if one of the original Bench Mob members hops on board for the rest of the regular season.
