Atlanta Hawks’ power forward Elton Brand has fought through injuries and bad luck to have a lengthy and productive career.
For Brand, who is in his 15th season, the end is near.
According to Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Brand has not made a decision about whether or not he will return for the 2014-15 season.
Brand was originally drafted by the Chicago Bulls with the #1 overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft. After two years in Chicago, he was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers where he spent seven seasons before bolting for the Philadelphia 76ers in 2008. After four years in Philadelphia, he was released via the amnesty clause and joined the Dallas Mavericks for a season. He signed with the Hawks in the offseason.
Brand is averaging just 5.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game this season, but he has had a fantastic career.
He has posted career averages of 16.7 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.8 blocks and 0.9 steals per game while shooting 50.1% from the field and 73.7% from the free throw line.
