Ahead of the national championship game Monday night, a University of Connecticut RA named Derek sent his floor an e-mail asking them to behave and not bring the rowdy celebrations back to the floor. The e-mail got shared on social media and went viral as he was labeled the worst RA in UConn history.

Well apparently someone didn’t understand Derek’s sense of humor, because in a subsequent e-mail he explained to his floor that most of it was sarcasm and not entirely serious. He was just trying to avoid having to fill out reports with them and they missed his sarcasm in the process, even trying to explain one of the jokes was from Seinfeld.

I think when he was explaining to students a Seinfeld joke that should’ve been his first clue. That show ended in 1998 and most college students were younger than five years old at the time.
