Another prospect has thrown his hat in the ring as far as the NBA Draft is concerned.

On Friday afternoon, Jeff Borzello of CBS Sports reported that New Mexico Lobos’ center Alex Kirk would be declaring for the NBA Draft.

The official twitter account of the New Mexico basketball program confirmed the decision.

Although several mock drafts have overlooked Kirk, his size (7’0, 250 pounds) and skill are certainly intriguing.

Borzello points out his 32-point, 11-rebound, five-block performance against the Massachusetts Minutemen as one reason he may have declared.

Jonathan Givony of Draft Express ranks Kirk as the 28th best junior prospect, but he is not in their mock draft and did not make the list of top 100 prospects, which makes his declaration quite a surprise.

Of course, Kirk can still change his mind as long as he does it before Tuesday’s deadline.

Kirk averaged 13.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.7 blocks and 1.1 assists per game this season.
