Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy wants a new contract. McCoy won’t go the traditional route of holding out for a new deal though, according to Roy Cummings of theTampa Tribune.
No matter the status of contract talks, Bucs DT Gerald McCoy says he will be in attendance when training camp starts. McCoy in contract yr.

The Bucs have a new head coach in Lovie Smith and McCoy doesn’t want to miss the start his first camp. A wise decision because holding out unsuccessfully and being unfamiliar with a new defense would work against him. McCoy is also slated to earn $10.295 million this season on the final year of his rookie deal so he isn’t exactly going to be underpaid, there is just the general injury risk facing him in a contract season.
McCoy had an All-Pro seaosn last year with nine sacks.
