Dallas Cowboys new defensive tackle, who just signed with the team recently, came in carrying a pending lawsuit with the owner of a local bar. Melton countersued as well. The two sides have reached an agreement and settled their dispute.

“After sitting down together and talking face to face we have both agreed to drop our lawsuits,” according to a written statement Christian Dennie, Melton’s attorney, via the Dallas Morning News. “Talking openly and directly is sometimes the best way to resolve issues. We both realize that our time is better spent on more meaningful things. No money was exchanged and we both realize we are better off as allies. We both have ties to Dallas and Grapevine, Texas and we feel it is best to put our time towards positive things for the future.”

While Melton got out having to write a big check, he still faces criminal chargers. He has a hearing for a Class A misdemeanor assault scheduled for April 24.
