Rams MLB James Laurinaitis underwent ankle surgery after the 2013 season

This comes as a big of a surprise, but St. Louis Rams linebacker James Laurinaitis underwent ankle surgery after the 2013 season according to Jim Thomas, beat writer for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
“LB James Laurinaitis says he had cleanup ankle surgery right after 2013 season, but is full speed now,” Thomas wrote on Twitter.
The surgery must’ve been very minor and not been of serious concern. Getting it done immediately following the season was wise and probably planned. Laurinaitis didn’t necessarily have the most stellar 2013 season after signing a five-year, $41.5 million contract extension before the season.
Laurinaitis recorded 116 tackles this past season, nearly a 30 tackle drop off from the 2011 and 2012 seasons. It is also the second lowest total of his career, only being surpassed by the 2010 campaign with 114 tackles. He will be making $10 million in the 2014 season and the Rams would like him to bounce back.
