NFL Draft Rumors: New England Patriots calling Tom Savage ‘Tom #2’

The New England Patriots have made it no secret that they are very interested in selecting a quarterback in May’s Draft. They have visited with Central Florida Knights’ quarterback Blake Bortles and brought both Texas A&M Aggies’ quarterback Johnny Manziel and Louisville Cardinals’ signal-caller Teddy Bridgewater in for visits.
The Patriots are also showing interest in perhaps the fastest rising prospect in the 2014 Draft, Pittsburgh Panthers’ quarterback Tom Savage.
According to Tony Pauline of Draft Insider, the Patriots are very high on Savage and some in the organization are even calling him “Tom #2,” in obvious reference to Tom Brady.

The Patriots probably initially thought Savage could be a nice steal in the later rounds, but seemingly every day, the hype behind Savage grows more and more and it looks like he may even be a second round pick now.
Savage completed 238-of-389 passes for 2,958 yards with 21 touchdowns and nine interceptions for the Panthers last season.
