With the deadline approaching to pick up the fifth year on the contracts of players drafted in 2011, teams are starting to decide who they want to being back relatively cheap and who they want to take their chances with.

For the St. Louis Rams and Pro Bow defensive end Robert Quinn, the latter is not an option any longer as the team has picked up the fifth year of his rookie deal.

This really comes as little surprise other than the Rams are willing to pay Quinn $6.969MM since he was drafted outside of the Top 10. There’s still a chance of working out a long term deal with Quinn, but given his young age and the need for edge rushers like him throughout the NFL, the Rams are getting a temporary bargain on a player they’ll eventually have to give big bucks to.
