NBA Playoffs 2014: DeJuan Blair ejected for kicking Tiago Splitter (GIF)
The Dallas Mavericks surprised many by bouncing back from a tough 90-85 game 1 defeat in which they blew a fourth quarter lead by blowing out the San Antonio Spurs 113-92 in game to earn a split in San Antonio and steal home court advantage.
Then, the Mavericks got a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Vince Carter to “steal” game 3 and take a 2-1 series lead.
They’re trying to complete their biggest shocker yet on Monday night, rallying back from a 20-point third quarter deficit to take a one-point lead late in the fourth quarter of game 4.
However, they just made a boneheaded play that may cost them the game. With a one point lead, DeJuan Blair was called for a foul on Tiago Splitter. As he saw the call, he appeared to kick Splitter in the head and was ejected.
Whether he really meant any harm or not, Blair knew Splitter is down there and kicking a player while your team is nursing a one-point lead and you yourself are playing extremely well is just plain stupid and it may cost his team the game and eventually the series.
