On Tuesday, a report surfaced that the Miami Dolphins were expected to pick up the fifth-year option on center Mike Pouncey.

In most circumstances, picking up the option of a player of Pouncey’s caliber is an easy decision.

However, this wasn’t necessarily an easy decision for the Dolphins. Pouncey is close with former Dolphins’ offensive lineman Richie Incognito and was named in the Ted Wells Report for being involved in the bullying of former Dolphins’ offensive lineman Jonathan Martin, who has since been traded to the San Francisco 49ers.

In the end, talent and on the field production won out as the Dolphins officially announced they exercised the option on Tuesday.

The Dolphins then sent out a press release to further confirm the move.

"The 15th overall selection in the 2011 NFL Draft, Pouncey has started all 46 games that he has played in his career. He was named to the 2014 NFL Pro Bowl team and became the first Dolphins center selected to the Pro Bowl since Tim Ruddy in 2000. Pouncey became the fourth Dolphins center selected to the NFL’s annual all star game in team history, joining Ruddy and Hall of Famers Jim Langer (1973-78) and Dwight Stephenson (1983-87)."

Pouncey is scheduled to make $7.438 million in 2015.
