NBA Playoffs 2014, Mavericks at Spurs final score: San Antonio takes 3-2 series lead with 109-103 win

After losing two straight games to fall behind 2-1 in their first round playoff series with the Dallas Mavericks, the San Antonio Spurs won their second consecutive game, defeating the Mavericks 109-103 Wednesday night to take a 3-2 series lead.

Tony Parker led the Spurs with 23 points and five assists. Manu Ginobili added 19 off of the bench and Kawhi Leonard chipped in 15 points and eight rebounds.

The Spurs, led by Tiago Splitter’s 17 points, 12 rebounds and five assists and Tim Duncan’s 16 points and 12 rebounds, owned the paint, outscoring the Mavericks 54-28 down low.

Vince Carter scored 28 points to lead the Mavericks while Dirk Nowitzki had 26 points and 15 rebounds and Monta Ellis scored 21 points and dished out six assists.

The Spurs made their run late in the first half. With the game tied at 42, the Spurs outscored the Mavericks 16-7 to take a 58-49 lead into the break.The Mavericks stayed within striking distance throughout the second half, but the Spurs had a response for every run the Mavericks began to make.

Game 6 is Friday night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
