NBA Rumors: Bulls unlikely to grant Lakers permission to interview Tom Thibodeau
By Josh Hill
The Chicago Bulls are out of the postseason and their offseason of change has begun. But while that change involved bringing over Nikola Mirotic, it now may involve the utter destruction of everything that has been positive about this current regime.
With lingering issues persisting between the way Gar Forman, John Paxson and Jerry Reinsdorf want to run the team and how head coach Tom Thibodeau does, the vacancy out in Los Angeles may be something that solves the problem. According to multiple reports, the Lakers want Thibs for their head coaching position but Ken Berger of CSBSports.com notes it’s an unlikely move.
Still, Berger does mention that the same was being said about Doc Rivers being traded to the Clippers last season and that ended up happening. Thibodeau and Rivers’ situations are different but the health of Derrick Rose, friction with the front office and other smaller things could build up to prompt an exit by Thibodeau even if Bulls fans don’t want to imagine it happening.
